Make your own candle
Step 1: Prep your jar
The first step is getting your jar ready for the wax.
Make sure the inside of your jar is clean, dust free and dry.
Take the wick and apply the glue dot to the bottom of the wick.
Press the wick to the bottom of the jar. We've put a little black dot on the bottom of the jar to help you centre it
Take a pencil, pen or kebab stick and wrap your wick around it. You want the wick to be taught for when you pour the wax.
Step 2: Melt the wax
Now we need to melt the wax. You can use a double boiler, glass bowl and sauce pan or if you have a metal melting pot that works too.
Place all the wax inside your container
Slowly heat the wax until it is completely melted, stirring occasionally
Step 3: Add the fragrance
It's time to add the best bit.
Once the wax has melted pour in all the fragrance oil. We've pre-measured this for you based on if you are making one or two candles. The usual ratio is 8% fragrance to wax.
Step 4: Pour
We now need to pour the wax.
Place your jar on a baking tray of piece of cardboard. It makes clean up easier.
If you have a thermometer, you want the wax to be between 50 -60 degrees C for pouring.
Take your wax and carefully pour into your jar. Filling it to just below the threads of the jar.
When pouring try to avoid pouring against the sides of the jar.
Leave your candle to set for 24 hours
Step 5: Light + Enjoy
Time to enjoy your new creation.
Once your candle has set for 24 hours it's time to enjoy.
Unwrap the wick from the pencil
Trim the wick to 5mm and light. The first time you light the candle it's best to leave it for 2-3 hours to ensure an even melt.
Remember to enjoy safely away from children, pets and anything hanging.
